Go through the important points at https://docs.djangopr..., why they matter and how they'll make Django 1.4 apps more awesome. Would also be great to cover backwards compatible changes with 1.3.1 and previous and strategies for upgrading etc.

Good stuff, Great to hear a Django core developer talk on building out features.

I definitely enjoyed the "impromptu" presentations and discussion. I'm not a developer but I'm trying to learn what people can do with Django so we can improve our site. Also, I've been really dependent on contract developers. Meeting people that have been using Django allows me to know when my BS detector should be going off. Thanks again and I look forward to joining more meetings.

It was great to attend this meeting. it was my first time but it was informative and interesting to see what people are doing with Django.
The last part of the Django Meetup was mostly what other Meetups call "User Presentations". Perhaps we should have one where different members of the community get a chance to present on a project that they think would be beneficial for the community. Most follow up presentations where of this kind and it seemed the group enjoyed it. Maybe cap them at 10 mins so you can cram various ones.

Hey, great event everyone and huge thanks to all the speakers. Huge thanks to Google and Bit Bucket for their very generous contributions to the meetup. Lets do this again soon! Perhaps with more speakers.
Great mix - the main presentation went over the basic new features. The follow up presentations was made by the community. We should have this meetup more often!
Dang. I can't make it. Please can someone take a few notes of any highlights/announcements and/or share any decks? Cheers, Rick with a sick puppy (which sounds like a joke excuse but its not )-:

Pizza is on order and will be provided.
Pizza sounds great. I would pitch in
Escape from NY Pizza is delicious.
I haven't seen anyone else mention ordering pizza, so I went ahead and called Escape from NY Pizza (caution: I've never actually had this pizza, it's just close and seemed convenient) and got a quote to order 30 pizzas and some salad. Unless I hear back that I shouldn't, I'll ask them to deliver something like 10 pepperoni, 10 combination, 5 veggie, and 5 cheese pizzas around 6:45pm. That's roughly 12*30=360 slices, 187 people. Yay, nay, changes?
@Charles Bless Bitbucket's collective hearts! I would gladly chip in cash for pizza or what not.
A few of us from the Bitbucket team will be there tonight and we'll bring a couple kegs, taps and cups. Maybe someone else wants to sponsor food? :)
...thinking about it some more, it'd be great to block off some time to discuss how to refactor code to bring it up to 1.4.

Sounds like Code for America will be a better space. @Aurelio, if you want to change the venue up above go for it. See you all Wednesday!

@Aurelio, I did not get any direct messages, but it looks like you may have wanted to msg the other Ben in this meet up instead of me?
0 · April 13, 2012
@Aurelio He sorry I didn't see your suggestion above. If you think the code for America might be better I say we go for it. We have about 20 chairs here. Not really sure how many people really plan on showing up.
I would love to see this become a more regular event.

Okay Friends/Djangonauts, Here is the plan.... We can meet up at my gig Life360 we are on the third floor. Honestly I have not read up much on Django 1.4, but would love to hear about it. I can talk a bit about my project developing a Django Mobile webapp incorperating jQuery Mobile a bit.
See y'all there!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
