Django Logging Part 2 (East Bay)

Chris missed presenting his Django Logging talk last time (illness) but there was intense interest in the subject and we collectively winged it (Thank you, Richard Katz!). Most present also want to hear Chris' formally prepared talk, and he's eager to do it.

At 6:15, he'll use examples to go over Django's built in logging features, which can be tricky to use to their fullest potential.

For remaining time:

Come with your laptop to work on your project, give and get help over the shoulders of others for anything related to Django, including Python, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Django apps, etc. Accelerate your learning, hone your Django skills, and/or get to know other East Bay Django Developers.

Beginners welcome - but you'll get much more out of the group if you've installed Python and Django and completed at least parts I and II of the official Django tutorial, started the Django Book, or had some other form of exposure to Django. To get started:

19 people showed up. IMO this was the best of the East Bay meetups to date as Chris did a through job with logging, followed by Chris and I respective showing off an app currently being developed.

People seemed to like it, so in addition to a 30-45 minute main presentation we'll continue to do 2-3 brief, unplanned presentations of a recently developed app, highlighting aspects of the code that are particularly interesting.

Ross, that's a good solution. I've been using the local_settings file as an override and to store the "secret" data. Still have the problem of version control for the creds.py but I like the automagic switching of the settings according to what host you're on.

Thanks for the event last night -- I'm a newcomer to Django and the topic will be useful to me as I start developing applications.

To join NinjaMyApp. We have the MVP built and are looking to take it to the next level. We're flexible -- it can be anything from contract to co-founder for the right person.
