Serve Lunch at Glide - 15 Volunteers

We'll be serving lunch at Glide.  Enter in through the glass doors on the south side of the church (on Ellis).  We'll gather right inside of the doors in the lobby and head downstairs at 11:30am to start serving lunch.  Please be there promptly at 11:30am.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I have to leave early?

If you think you will have a conflict in your schedule with regard to your meal service shift, please decline from coming in that day and sign up for a day where you can serve the entire shift. Once you are here, we expect you to stay for the duration of your shift. Program volunteers will be working primarily with a program manager who you can work out all scheduling needs and concerns.

2. What is the minimum age requirement to volunteer?

The minimum age requirement to serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner is 12. All persons under the age of 18 are required to have their waiver signed by their parent or guardian and submitted before the volunteer shift.  The waiver can be found here:

3. How should I dress?

Please wear closed-toed shoes and shirts with sleeves (T-shirts are good, just no tank-tops) when volunteering in our Meals Program. Volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably and use common sense with their choice of attire.

About Glide

Thank you for giving your time to feed the hungry! Serving a Meal is the most popular way to volunteer at GLIDE.

GLIDE's mission is to create a radically inclusive, just and loving community mobilized to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization.

The Volunteer Resource program places about 10,000 volunteers each year, totaling 65,000 hours of service. Serving a meal in the Daily Free Meals program is a transformative experience. The program requires 60 volunteers each day in order to fill the breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts, 364 days a year. And that doesn't even account for the increase in help needed during the holidays.

I found out only now that one hour before the event I was not on the waiting list anymore. It was too late for me to reschedule my day! Sorry
