It's Movie Night!
"A Place at the Table" is a 2013 documentary about hunger and nutrition in America. PL Katya writes: "49 million Americans are hungry on any given day. Now having food to feel full is one thing, but being able to acquire nutritious food on a food stamp is impossible ($3/day gets you 3000 calories of processed carb crap, but only about 300 calories of vegetables). Which is why diabetes and obesity are tightly connected with hunger in USA. The movie is great in depicting this."
Many of you have volunteered at our SFFB, Project Open Hand, Sanctuary Shelter, and Next Door Shelter events. Let's take this chance to frame our local food issues in a broader context.
I can host at my loft in the Mission. It's a decently big space w/a big screen. I'll have some refreshments, but mostly it's BYObeer and BYOsnacks. Directions and address will be sent to those RSVP'd. C'mon by!
