I'm excited to announce the first event of The San Francisco Internet of Things Meetup!

We are extremely fortunate to have Jason Johnson, the founder of the Internet of Things Consortium as our first speaker. Jason is the co-founder of a stealth startup, Rethink Books, and TEDxSF, as well as a mentor for Founders Institute and multiple startups. A few weeks ago during CES 2013, Jason announced the IoT Consortium to provide opportunities for hardware, software, and service providers to collaborate on ways to make connected devices more rich and rewarding for today’s consumer.

After Jason's talk, we will go to the District bar around the corner for a round of drinks.

I have to help with an IxDA event starting at 6, but will try to make it for part! I remember writing an article about IoT research at MIT and it sounded fascinating.

We have a very exciting announcement to make.

We are honored to be adding Kevin Ashton to our speaker line-up this Wednesday. Kevin is known for inventing the term "The Internet of Things." He co-founded the Auto-ID Center at MIT, which created a global standard system for RFID and other sensors. He subsequently became a VP at RFID company ThingMagic and later co-founded and became CEO of Zensi, a cleantech startup which was acquired by Belkin International. He now serves as General Manager of Belkin's cleantech Division. Kevin will join Jason Johnson for our expert panel on the state of the Internet of Things movement. We are taking questions from the audience. If you're interested in asking a question about the Internet of Things to either of our speakers, please submit your questions here: http://goo.gl/SzxmG If you haven't already done so, please remember to RSVP on Eventbrite here: http://goo.gl/iPTMb. We look forward to meeting all of you on Wednesday.

    Hello!

An event scheduled just before our talk is expected to run overtime. Instead of switching date or venue, we will start right with Jason's talk at 7:30PM.

We'll network after the talk till 9:00pm, and move on to District for a round of drinks. Please come by Founders Den around 7:15pm. Signs will be posted on the doors. See you in a few days!
