Rockers' Club is an association of rock bands which also gets together for jams and group events. We welcome players of all skill levels, but becoming a member of the group involves a commitment to get together and play music regularly with at least some of our members. We also welcome entire rock bands who are interested in reducing the costs of playing music by sharing our equipment and practice space.
Unlike most other Meetup groups, almost all of our members attend our events one or more times per month. Rockers' Club used to have about 140 members, but only 30-40 of these members had ever attended our events, and only about 15 or 20 were attending very regularly. We are now a much smaller group by choice, which only grows as our existing bands add members, as new drummers join the group (allowing the formation of new bands), or as entire bands join up.
Concerning music, each of our bands does its own thing, with some playing covers and other working on original projects. All of our members have been playing together for quite awhile (we have organized more than 45 jams and practices!). We also have about 150 cover songs (mostly Classic Rock and Blues) which the whole group knows pretty well and likes to play when we get together for group jams.
Our group exists for a couple reasons. First, we want to reduce the cost of playing rock music together by sharing our equipment, which is really excellent and comprehensive. Second, we want to expand the Club to include as many other bands as possible, so that we can share practice space more efficiently, and thus reduce those costs for all our members. And finally, we want to form a social group of rock musicians who enjoy one another's company, are committed to playing music together regularly, and are ready to share the work, cost, and fun of putting together jams and practices.
If you apply to join the group, we will make an effort to match you up with other rockers who share your musical interests, who are also committed to playing together regularly, who are ready to share the costs of practice space, and who play the other instruments required to form a complete band. We add new members to the group as quickly as we can find committed and compatible rockers for them to practice or jam with!
Although we would like to welcome everyone, we aren't able to admit new members unless they are joining one of our existing bands, or are definitely committed and can form the core of a new band (in the case of drummers and bassists). We have more members waiting to join our group than we have members in the group, so whenever committed Event Organizers and drummers join, we should be able to add new members.
