Post Symfony Live 2013 Meetup

The plan is to have a casual meetup to talk about what presentations / take aways we got from the Symfony Live conference in Portland. People can share what they found with people that couldn't make it.  If anyone has suggestions for topics or would like to present something, that would be great.

We'll have 2 presenters, each presenting for 20-30 minutes.

It was great to meet the SF Symfony users. I appreciated the conversations about programming culture, ego, and using the best practices no matter where they come from. Thanks to the speakers for sharing their insights!

Thanks to everyone who attended, spoke, organized, etc. - I really enjoyed the meetup and hope we can do it again soon. We're happy to host whenever you need us.

I do in fact have the audio -- I'll get it sorted out tomorrow!

I'll update again when I have the audio up as well.

Sorry for the second time change, everyone. It turns out that 6:45 is a better time to arrive. Talks will start at 7pm still.

I changed the start time to 6:30pm since that is when the pizza is going to arrive. Presentations will still start at 7pm.

Hi Everyone. Since this meetup starts on the later side (7pm), we will be starting right away, so please be on time. I will be there early to bring pizza and refreshments. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Depending upon the scheduling (I split time between SF & NJ), I may have a space (Financial District, base of Telegraph Hill) available if the group wants to be someplace a bit more conducive to conversation...

Alas, I'll be out of town next week. - Would have enjoyed getting to see some familiar faces and meet everyone else (especially Timani, being a fellow Oakland resident and all :) ). I hope you all have a nice evening!

Another topic I could do at some point is restful versioned Apis with silex+JMSSerializer - I have done a bit of interesting work there.

Matt (m14t). Would you be interested in sharing your lightning talk on optimizing images for various devices including retina displays?

I wasn't able to go to Portland, but I'd be more than happy to contribute a talk on (nearly) anything Symfony related, or do my Vagrant/Puppet talk, or ... any of my other ones. :) BTW, @m14t, you're in SanFran? Seriously? *sigh* I need to put up a sign or something.

I'll ping Dustin and Bulat as well. :)

Great. I'm thinking if you and Matt each present for 20-30 minutes that would be great. How's that sound?

      Sounds great to me!

I recently started using Johannes Schmitt's twig.js library (and corresponding bundle): http://jmsyst.com/libs/twig.js and http://jmsyst.com/bundles/JMSTwigJsBundle. I have the basic setup working fine, but cannot find any good examples of how to add compile-time filters and functions when using Assetic. If anyone knows how to do this, I'd love to see a few examples.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the Portland event (just had a baby boy), but would love to hear about the hot topics. --- Personally, I'm not a fan of bar/restaurant Meetups (too loud and distracting for my liking). If you can manage to get a space, I would definitely attend -- even willing to pitch in a few bucks. Otherwise, have fun and will catch-up at the next event.
