Our next San Jose WordPress Meetup date!

For this meeting, we'll be hosting our usual roundtable discussions...

• How to get off the ground with WordPress;

• How to add features to sites; and,

• How to maintain a site for the long-run.

Be sure to bring your laptop with you for this meeting.  We'll be looking up cool websites and answering questions on the fly!

Here's the Skinny on where to Park

The meeting will be located at the downtown San Jose NextSpace co-working facility, so parking is a premium.  Therefore, I recommend parking in the underground lot under the Safeway Market on the corner of West San Fernando Street and South Second Street.  This Safeway store validates up to two hours of parking for purchases as small as a pack of gum.  We normally start right on time, 5:30pm, and end at 7pm, so a 2 hour validation works great.  The NextSpace building, where our Meetup will be held, is kitty corner to the Safeway store (a short 2minute walk).

See you soon!

    In previous post - an example. I have a slightly earlier post on a patent issue. Next post is on cyber security. Cyber security page gets indexed using the patent issue keywords and the link text shows in the description Google provides of the misindexed cyber security page.

      i think you've blocked my IP from viewing your site. i was going through your sitemaps while reviewing your site to create my huge reply.

      i know others don't agree, but's it's just one of the many reasons i don't recommend blocking IP's. :(

    I don't think my site is indexing properly. I think there may be a duplicate content issue. Some stuff is showing up very slowly and not well ranked but some are - but also stuff is being incorrectly indexed at least temporarily.

    I use elegant's The Style theme. Blog posts have a "related blogs" part on bottom left and in the menu widget right hand side I use recent blog posts. Anyway, what happens frequently is that Google indexes a newer page against keywords found in the links - either in the related posts thing on left or the recent blog posts on the right.

    Also, I am showing some tags ranking ok - but are those creating duplicate content and generating a penalty. Should the indexing of tags and categories and whatnot be suppressed?

    Hi Michelle. I've studied real world use of hosts/networks for over 20years. There are a lot of web hosting companies that work well with WordPress. I recommend choosing the product that best fits your unique requirements; budget, customer service level, load time and up-time. For a club website, I'd say go for what I call the 'Hobby' tier of products, at $5 to $9 per month. The true small business tier starts at $25-50 per month, and increases from there. If your site is for a business, with plans for rapid web traffic growth, I don't recommend the under $10/mo service. Unfortunately, most '3rd-party' comparison reviews focus on this bottom 'Hobby' tier of products, and give the impression they're designed for business. They're not. You could get away with the bottom 'Hobby' tier service if you expect under 500 page views per day. In a real world scenario, I have a client that grew their business to over $2M in yearly sales, without issue, using a 'hobby' hosting product.
