Gnosis...Both atheistic Buddhists and theists claim a form of gnosis that seems to conflict regarding the nature of reality. The current consensus among western philosophers and scientists is that any kind of direct knowledge of reality is impossible. All these conflicts seem rooted in the process called BOINL (breaking out into natural language). For science, this means trying to understand what something like Quantum Mechanics says about consensus reality, and for mystics it involves something similar, trying to express in words an experience of ultimate reality. I feel these conflicts are not rooted in science itself or the experiences themselves, but in the attempt to use words to align with consensus reality. That attempt to understand how this works is pretty much my one and only interest in life, as I feel we're in a crises of meaning rooted in these conflicts.
