If I recall correctly, during the meeting this last Wednesday, it was suggested that groups could be developed outside the the main group. I am forming, with others, a small group which will focus on being of assistance to those writers with on goiung projects that they wish help with. If you are interested contact me at [masked]. This is a select group. Membership is by invitation only.

Let's everyone take a step back. No one's putting anyone down and there doesn't need to be any conflict. It just seems things are starting to spiral out of control and become a bigger deal than they need to be. Gordon, you've made your invitation clear, so please contact writers privately after this. Everyone-- writers, friends-- let's stay positive :) See you all at the next meeting.

Clearly my post has caused some strife. It was not meant to be that way. I apologize to anyone who was offended. My desire was to open this up to everyone who might have an interest in a smaller group focused on writing problems not associated with the larger group. I felt that individuals who were working on long term projects would be the ones coming forward. Obviously I didn't get that across. I don't like setting something up in a secret fashion. The newer people I don't yet know and cannot therefore contact individually. That was why I sent the post out as I did. Obviously it was a mistake. So, again, if you were offended then I apologize. End of story. Have a nice weekend.

Look 4ward to resuming out original format.

It is a simple format. You sign in, readers will be based on first to last signing in, readers pass out copies of what you are to read which cannot exceed 800 words, listen to comments made, and then the next person reads. If you have a large piece you can send a query to the group requesting those who wish to read to communicate directly with the writer. The reading and critiquing of that writing will be among the writer and readers and not done within the group time. Remember, we only have 90 minutes of library time and we have grown in number. In order to respect everyone, to allow for more growth, we need controls. That is not to say social networking cannot take place. We welcome diversity in writing and we welcome a social structure that will allow respectful participation within the group and outside the group. However, we simply cannot allow multiple conversations, arguments, and the like during the operation of the group.

If someone wishes to carryon a discussion with another person privately then they should be respectful of the group and either wait for the group to close or go outside if they want to speak to each other while the group is meeting. We are not setting rules and guidelines to dissuade participation but to protect and nurture that participation. When the group had five to six people in it we had the luxury of operating differently. With the prospects of 15 to over 20 in attendance we must have some format of control. New members will be allowed in at all meetings. Introductions will be brief. Name tags will consist of a folded piece of paper that each person will bring and write their names on it so that others can see their names. Again, the key here is respect for each other. There is one leader, one time keeper, and respect must be shown to the readers and the writers. If this is not the case then chaos controls and I am sure that is not what the group wants.

This will be my first time attending as well. Is there anything we need to bring, like writing to share? Thanks.

Will there be someone or a sign in the library directing us where to meet? Being new to the group I won't recognize anyone. Thanks!
