Scientists love talking about their work and sharing their passion for their research with others. As a non-native astronomer working near Munich, I find very few avenues where I can talk to and with interested non-astronomers about my work. I suspect there are other researchers in this savvy and professional city who feel likewise. This group aims to remedy this situation by arranging regular meetings where one or two members talk about their own research, be it in the humanities, the arts, social sciences, natural sciences or technology. We would like to promote a fun, informal, thoughtful and discussion-oriented atmosphere, in which we can hone those important skills of describing our work to non-experts, as well as learn about the diverse intellectual streams that run by the Isar, in this city we call home.
