Most of us have experienced Yoga at some point and have felt the benefits at the physical and mental levels. This group is for those who now want to learn the Theory behind the  Yoga they practice(or have practiced).

For some of us, application of anything gets easier and more fun if I study and understand the theory behind it. For e.g if you are training to become a Manager, some people learn by experience all the way while others go to MBA and Learn some theory of how to people management etc.

One Mr Patanjali (150 BCE)is considered Father of Yoga and the compiler of the Yoga Sutras, an important collection of aphorisms on Yoga practice which over years morphed into the hot yoga, Bikram ,Iyengar and other forms we see around.

In Hinduism sutra denotes a distinct type of literary composition, based on short aphoristic statements, generally using various technical terms. This literary form was designed for concision, as the texts were intended to be memorized by students in some of the formal methods of scriptural and scientific study.

MEETUPS:

In this meetup group we will have 2 types of meetups.

1. EVENING GET TOGETHERS TO WATCH YOGA SUTRA VIDEO COMMENTARY

I have a series of 11 videos with Commentary on chapters of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (about 1 hr each) which we will watch together. We can then discuss them likely accompanied by some sort of potluck.

2. We will Discuss other Books/scriptures that we all feel is relevant in our study of Yoga.
