Let's hike the Marcus Land Slide hike from the new Tom's Thumb Trailhead. This is a relatively easy hike about 4 miles long, if you do the whole thing. The last mile is a loop and it's out and back on the same trail, so no problem turning around. Plenty of other hikers. There's essentially no elevation climb. The trail is very well maintained, and is dirt and some small gravel. Lots of photo ops!
How to get to the trailhead:
The trailhead is located at 23015 N. 128th Street. Scottsdale 85255.
From the south, take Pima Road north to Happy Valley Road east for about 4.25 miles, turn right (east) onto Ranch Gate Road, turn right (south) onto 128th Street, and travel for one mile to Tom’s Thumb Trailhead.
From the north, take Pima Road south to Dynamite Road / Rio Verde Drive and turn left (east). Turn right on 128th Street and travel three miles south to Tom's Thumb Trailhead.
Turn right on 128th St (a gravel road), go about a mile to the trailhead and park there. Regular cars are fine on the gravel road.
We'll meet on the north side of the bathroom area.
