November Meetup: Welcome TradeStation!

Hi Everyone!

Join us for our next Meetup on Wednesday November 7th, 2012 from 6-9pm. (Note: this is a change of date from November 6th-as announced at out last Meetup)

TradeStation is coming to the Valley of the Sun! TradeStation is the trading platform ranked by Barrons as #1 for frequent traders, #1 for international traders and #1 for trading experience and technology. We will meet at the Marriott Hotel in Old Town Scottsdale located at 7325 E. 3rd Avenue. It’s just east of Scottsdale Road between Indian School Rd. and Camelback Rd.  You may want to arrive early for some “pre-meeting networking”.

Your hosts will be TradeStation’s John Bullock and Michael Anton. They and others will present traders’ strategies, successes, failures and best uses of the TradeStation platform. And……..they will provide appetizers, soft drinks, beer, wine, TradeStation thumb drives, and some free books!

If you are a TradeStation user, it is their goal to present and explore TradeStation in ways you may not have considered as well as give you an opportunity for you to network with other TradeStation users in the Valley. Tell your trader friends about this event!  If you or they are not TradeStation, users, this meeting will give you and them an outstanding opportunity to “kick the tires” and see if the advantages of TradeStation outweigh the advantages of the trading platform currently used. (We are even considering formulating a TradeStation Users Group in the Valley and this meeting may just be the inaugural event.)

Your laptops are welcomed!

Many members indicate their  interests on their name badges: i.e.  stocks,  e-mini futures, options, etc.  Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to identify and network with other traders who have your similar interests. Hope to see you there!

Please R.S.V.P. ....Amy

Presentations were disjointed and disorganized overall, and the subjects were largely esoteric. i am not a TS user, and learned little to interest me in it. As usual, I got the most value out of simply talking with other attendees about their current "journeys in trading". I think we as a group need to do our part to give Amy better input as to future topics. :-)

If Amy doesn't mind, I can post the files to the Meetup website, but would prefer Amy bless it first....

TS is, imho, the best platform for Futures trading. The 2 TS presenters didnt seem well prepared, but punted. Harrison's talk on automation was interesting, but likely to complex for most (even the TS folk struggled to open the editor). The facility was nice, and it was good to see old faces.

I use TS to trade and retrieve historical data. Their data is comprehensive and quality is good. Overall i like it alot. Thanks for organizing the event and i really enjoyed it!

The meetup was great. This was my first meetup meeting and plan to attend as many as possible in the future. I think the Tradestation people were not prepared very well. Their presentations were not polished, and they struggled to answer basic questions. This did not motivate me to want to use TradeStation. Maybe other user testimonies from the meetup members will help me see the value of TradeStation in the future, but for now I'm not sold?
I was impressed with Amy as the organizer and with Harrison and Ty!
