December Meetup:Welcome Wall Street's SMB Capital!

Hi Everyone!
Join us for our next meetup on Thursday December 6, 2012 from 6:00pm-8pm.

We will meet at LaQuinta Inn – 8888 E. Shea Blvd. It is on the Northeast corner of the 101 freeway and the Shea Blvd Exit. NOTE: Access to the hotel entrance is tricky. After exiting the 101 freeway, go East on Shea Blvd, turn Left on 90th Street, turn left at Desert Cove,  turn left at N. 89th Pl. Then turn right at Becker Lane and follow the sign to the lobby.

You may want to arrive at 5:30pm for “official pre-meeting networking”. In addition, we will have time for networking between the first and second hour as well. Many members indicate their trading interests on their name badges-- stocks, e-mini futures, options, etc. Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to identify and network with other traders who have your similar interests.

Our speakers for the evening will be Seth Freudberg and Mike Bellafiore from SMB Capital. (Mike gave a great presentation  to our group in December, 2010!). SMB Capital is a propietary trading firm on Wall Street and has appeared on CNBC’s Fast Money, CNNMoney, StockTwits TV, and in the Financial Times, thestreet.com, and SFO magazine. SMB’s training program has been highlighted on the TV documentary “Wall Street Warriors“.

Seth will speak on options trading and Mike will speak on stock trading.

Seth Freudberg is the Director of the SMB Options Training Program. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business. He will also be presenting options strategies that he is currently employing. He has designed his presentation to be relevant to a seasoned options trader, or a beginner options trader. He will cover the following topics:

• What Options Are and Why They Are Weird
• Why People Love to Trade Options Spreads
• Non-Directional Options Trading (how to make money when the market is not moving)
• Credit Spreads
• Iron Condors

Mike Bellafiore is co-founder of SMB Capital, and author of "One Good Trade: Inside the Highly Competitive World of Proprietary Trading" (Wiley Trading) . Mike is also the co-founder of SMBU, an educational company that helps new and developing traders build their trading foundation in all products, including systems trading, and utilizing the principles of elite performance. Mike will share the lessons the market has taught him over the past fifteen years, wrapped inside of trading stories and his own trades. He lectures internationally and trains traders at numerous Wall Street trading firms. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and a former member of the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees. He has traded his own account professionally for more than 15 years. He just completed his  second book for FT Press, "The PlayBook" .

Mike will show you how to build a playbook that makes the most sense for you.

My little take on this, first and foremost I really want to thank SMB and Amy for putting this together. what I got from this was that there are guys like Mike and Seth who really do not need to do what they are doing fly in from NY give us their personal experiences trials and/or errors to make anyone that even thinks twice if they can do what others are able to do in the market and that YES it can be done. But that you have to put on the time to learn. It’s not a turnkey operation if it was everyone would be doing it.
