Thanks to everyone that showed up to our educational/networking event last night. Hope you had as much fun as I did.
I wanted to take a moment to list our group's current sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for those interested.
1 - Venue, Food, Beer Sponsor. We're looking for a sponsor who can host our educational/networking meetups. We need space and beer/food for 40-50 people. We currently have a need for our our January, March, and May Meetups.
If you have the resources and would like to commit to any of these meetups, please email me ([address removed]).
2 - Financial Sponsorship. We're looking for monthly financial sponsor. If this is something you're interested in please email me and I can provide more information ([address removed]).
If you'd like to help the group out, we currently have two needs:
1 - We have a twitter account we need help monitoring and updating. If you're already posting rails-related tweets to your own twitter, it could be as easy as posting those to our account.
2 - We'd like to start recording and posting our educational meetups to youtube. I have the equipment, I just need someone to operate it and then possibly edit and post the video.
If you're interested in helping in either of these areas please email me ([address removed]).
If you're a rails dev, you already know, there aren't a whole lot of resources out there for us, not like there are for php, that's for sure.
I thought it would be helpful for all of us railers to interact, learn, share, network, and hang out.
As far as I know, our RoR group is the biggest and one of the most active in Seattle. We have laid back hang-out style meetups weekly, and every 4-6 weeks or so we try to hold an educational/networking meetup where we can all get together, network, and learn.
At our educational/netoworking meetups, we often have businesses from the area who use Ruby on Rails come talk with us about how they're utilizing it in their respective technologies.
Come join us and and help us turn this .net town into one with a vibrant Rails community.
