South Lake Washington - 25 miles

Continuing my training for the STP, I'm going to ride 100 miles this day. Hank says he knows a good loop on the south end of Lake Washington that's about 25 miles.

I'm going to do the loop 4 times. I expect that people joining the ride will only do one lap, then call it a day. That's fine.

Far too much for me at this stage. I just did my first half-mile without falling - was a big pat on the back to myself but embarrassingly short by 24.5 miles!

Apologies I'm so uninformed, but what are the dates? Maybe the answer to getting stuck along the way is to have some SAG. Let's see if you can rustle up some support for this ride.

Sorry I never replied to these. Thanks for the concern guys. I've tried talking to a lot of people, doing a lot of stretches, and even tried some radical massages, but nothing seems to work. I think i would need to see a professional, and I just don't have the money for it. It's just too risky for me to try the ride and then just get stuck somewhere along the way.

Noli, was the knee pain traceable to any specific action, like going downhill? Or is it something you have some history with? In some cases (like IB Band stress), there are some stretches that can help alleviate. Seems like you've been working really hard to pull out without giving it a shot. Maybe Steve DeKK or Joe or another vet may have some tips. http://www.runnersworld.com/injury-treatment/stretching-and-strengthening-exercises-iliotibial-band-syndrome?page=single

Sadly, I only completed 3 laps. Less than a quarter of the way into the 3rd lap, I knew it would be my last. The pain in my right knee only got worse, and on the 3rd lap, my left knee starting hurting for the first time. I had to stop multiple times during the lap because the pain, in both knees, was too great.

What this means is my century turned into only 80 miles. And because I don't have health insurance and can't afford out-of-pocket physical therapy, no STP for me this year :(

    Hey Everybody,
Don't forget to check the meetup details at the TOP of the page. MEETUP TIME IS 10AM at Seward Park!
I'm starting at 7:30am because i need to get 100 miles in that day. All stragglers get to Seward Park at 10am, where I should be waiting for you. If you're masochistic, you can join me at 7:30am, but in that case, please call or text me: (678) HEY NOLI [I'm not kidding; that's my number]

Are you able to publish what the actual loop is? I'm planning on riding with my son for Father's Day, but we're not going to be starting at 9am. Might try to meetup along the course if I know what the course is. Tom B
