Book 1: Phillip K Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

For our very first book meet in May we will be discussing Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K Dick. The 1982 film Blade Runner is based on this science fiction novel and I recommend you to watch it as well as it could provide great discussion points at the meet. The book is available from the Book Depository and for the Kindle edition for $7, and Dymocks has it for around $13.

At the past meet and greet, I volunteered to provide questions at this book meet to model and support the discussion for this book, but if anyone else would like to create their own questions, feel free to do so.

I will also be collecting $1 from each participant at the meet which will go towards the $15 monthly administration cost. On a quick note, on the train last night I thought it would be a nice idea to save any extra money above $15 that is contributed to every meet so that perhaps sometime around Christmas we can have an awesome spread of drinks and/or food for all survivors. For example, if 20 people attend the next meet in May, I will put aside the extra $5 until Christmas where we can then use the money to decide on what we shall buy for the group!

Just wondering if anyone has a copy of Blade Runner that I might be able to borrow. I've tried my local library but it doesn't look like I can get hold of it before the next meet up. I was hoping to compare the film to the book.

Hi Flick, thanks for the offer. I was hoping to contact you but things have been a bit crazy this week, and now I've run out of time. No worries. I'll just have to watch it sometime after the book meet up. See you tomorrow.

Just want to send a shout out to our member Andrew for an amazing apocalyptic musical comedy show tonight! Both Amelia and I loved it! So talented! You better do it again next year!!

    Hi guys!

Totally looking forward to the next meet up, and making the most of the school holidays to catch up on my reading.

Also - my post-apocalyptic/distopian musical show is still on at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It's had some pretty good reviews - here's one of them: http://popculture-y.com/2014/04/review-songs-from-the-end-of-the-world/

I'd love to see you there - otherwise I'll see you at the next Book Club meeting. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
