For all lovers of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction!
The Second Last Book Club on Earth invites you to join its monthly book club in Melbourne CBD. Every month we will meet to discuss one book we have chosen from a variety of fiction that centers on the obliteration of our world and the survivors who attempt to fight their adversary and create a new civilization.
There are many great reads that demonstrate the many possibilities of basic survival: whether it be avoiding zombies and raiders or simply trying to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic wasteland caused by a pandemic, nuclear warfare, alien invasion, climate change or natural disaster. To give you a quick idea, we might read books such as The Road (Cormac McCarthy), On the Beach (Nevil Shute), World War Z (Max Brooks), Nineteen Eighty-Four (George Orwell), Oryx and Crake (Margaret Atwood), In the Country of Last Things (Paul Auster), The Children of Men (P.D. James), Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Phillip K Dick) and The Dog Stars (Peter Heller).
So get ready to pack your survival gear and join us at our next scheduled book club meeting!
