Shoot at Bowling Pins and Plates, May 11th

Join this fun shoot. Come any time on May 11, 2014 between 8:50 am and 12:00 pm to sign up and shoot your .22 or center fire pistol at real bowling pins an metal plates. Or, if you are not sure what this is all about, stop by and watch as the shooters take the line to try and knock down the bowling pins and steel targets. After watching and getting a feel for the game, sign up and give it a try. You'll also have a lot of fun talking with the other participants. We do talk about our guns and other topics too. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Anyone new to the game, ask questions and ask for instructions, we'll be glad to help.

The shoot is on Sunday May 11th. Sign up begins about 8:50 am and runs through about 12:00 pm. Shooting begins at 9:00 am. This fun shoot is open to non-members and members. Bring your .22 pistol and/or center fire pistol (semi-automatic or six shooter), and a minimum of 20 rounds of ammo. Once at the club, follow the orange bowling pins on the gravel roadside to the range we will be shooting on. This is really a fun shoot. I've been shooting in it for the past three years. This year I am going to help the members that run the match. More details are at the web site: www.fxrgc.com. Scroll down to see their navigation bar. Hover over 'Pistol', from the drop list scroll down to 'Bowling Pin Matches'. When at that page scroll down to read the rules. Directions to the club are on the web site too.

Basically, you sign up for one run ($5). A run is 10 shots at 6 bowling pins set on a table at 7 yards. The pins must fall off the table. Then you shoot 10 shots at 6 metal plates that are the shape of a bowling pin, set out at 15 yards. Scores are a combination of the time to shoot the two sets of bowling pins, plus a 3 second penalty for each pin or plate left standing. After you shoot one run, you may want to sign up for another run. Each run is $5.00. Just remember to bring enough ammo to shoot a maximum of 20 rounds per run. Prizes this year for Center Fire and Rim Fire are: 1st place- two free entries at a bowling pin match. 2nd and 3rd place - one free entry at a bowling pin match.

It is a lot of fun. Hope to see many of you there. Martha

I had a really fun time! I am re-new to shooting a handgun ( been a couple of years) Martha and her husband were nice enough to lens me their guns to use, and explain the workings to me. Heh! I now want not only a 9mm, but also a 22! There were also other nice people I chatted and learned from at this meet up! Thank you all!

It was nice to meet you yesterday. I am glad you had a good time. It is a fun shoot and a good group of people that show up each month. Remember 2nd Sunday of the month thru October.

Nice. We didn't come till later in the morning. Had to wait quite a while for our turn. Was wondering how it was earlier in the event?

It was a busier day than I expected, being Mother's day. We had a crowd all most all morning. I think after about 10 am the wait was about half an hour or so. As the morning wore on, I know it got a bit longer.

As always I had a good time. I was very glad to see so many ladies there today. Great conversations and good shooting fun.

Awesome amount of fun. About 1/3 of the shooters were women. Shooting skills overall ranged from total newbies to very experienced, but I think everyone pegged the fun meter at the top no matter what the skill level. There was lots of advice and help and friendly chatter. If you've never been, you should try at least once.

Patricia; A box of 50 9mm's will be $15, and a box of 50 22's will be $4. Each set of shooting at the bowling pins is $5 and will require a maximum of 20 rounds. So, a box of 50 will let you shoot 2 sets. Bring $39 if you want shoot 2 sets of 9mm's and 2 sets of 22's. See you Sunday. I left you a voice message too.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
