Introduction
Welcome to the Shrine meetup site. I'm the founder and spiritual director of the Shrine of Holy Wisdom which was founded in Tempe, Arizona in November 2001.
When did you consciously begin to develop an interest in spirituality?
Since I can recall. As a child I was mystified by the beauty of God's creation and sacred rituals. My grandmothers and great aunts were my initial teachers and my paternal grandmother (Nana Angelita) with whom I lived was my original mentor. She initiated me into the mysteries of sacred ceremony, prayer, devotions, and ritual.
What path is the central focus of your spiritual life? ie. Buddhist, Christian, Sufi, Universal
I was raised in a very traditional Mexican household in Los Angeles, California. I attended 13 years of Roman Catholic education which left an idelible mark on my soul and spiritual upbringing. Though I have studied multiple spiritual traditions subsequently and was under the guidance of an East Indian Meditation master for 15 years, I made the conscious decision in 1998 to return to the CHRIST path of illumination. In 2001 I was ordained a priest in the Church of Antioch and was consecrated bishop in the same tradition in May 2008. The Shrine of Holy Wisdom is a reflection of the honoring those many authentic paths to illumination.
What are you looking for in a spiritual community? ie;community participation, spiritual practices, worship, teachings, meditation
The Shrine provides a setting for communal worship and a multiplicity of weekly gatherings that enhance and enrich my soul on its journey to God realization.
