6 mile - Signal Hill Evening Hike

Enjoy the AMAZING Views!!

NOT A BEGINNER HIKE!!!! If you are a beginner please plan on getting into condition before joining our group or plan for being left behind!!!!!

Come join us as we climb up and over and all around Signal Hill.

WE LEAVE AT 6:30 SHARP!! Plan to be there a few minutes early.

ATTN PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE NU IMAGE / ARKRAFT / GLUEFOLD PARKING LOT!! YOU WILL BE TOWED!!!

The majority of the route is on pavement and asphalt, but we do hike one dirt trail. Shoes with good traction are recommended. Jeans are NOT recommended. This is not a "stroll"...we HIKE...so plan for moving and sweating.

We meet at the corner of Redondo Ave and Hill St in Signal Hill. Park on the street. We start by climbing Hill Street (the "decider"!), and head over the hill to Stanley, Cherry Ave, Skyline Dr and all points in between. The hike is about 6 miles long and takes about an 1 3/4 - 2 hours to complete. Well behaved and well socialized dogs (must be on a leash) are always welcome too.

This is NOT a beginner hike and we go at an intermediate to fast pace. This is not necessarily a difficult hike but the pace and the hills classify this as intermediate. Sometimes we will have slower paced people so you can join us at risk that the majority of the group will leave you behind.smile The route is tricky and you WILL get lost if you cannot keep up.

ALL HIKERS HIKE WITH US AT THEIR OWN RISK OF GETTING LOST IF THEY CANNOT KEEP UP!

I (Robin) lead most nights, but you can also look for regulars Greg or John as well.

Shoot an email if there are any questions!

Check out the pics. Tyrone, the crazy kook that he is, looks like a mad man in most and I just had to post! The final group shot he looks "normal" so it is the actual group shot of the night. :-) Tag yourself if I missed you...

My wife just saw the pics and she thinks I look normal in all of them, mmkay. She also asked if "kook" was a racial slur

Hilarious Tyrone!!!! Your wife would think you looked normal in all the pics. She "gets" to live with you and see all those crazy faces all the time. "Kook" is not a racial slur...its just who you are. ;-) Love ya Tyrone!!! xoxo

Do you bring a day pack with water or is pack with water around the waist enough?

    2 · August 17

    • Manny V.

Hi Cynthea, welcome to the group! Depending on your hydration needs, either a water pack around the waist or a water bottle is recommended. Also, in this hot summer days hydrating and electrolyte intakes is highly recommended during the day and prior to the the 6 mile urban hike. Looking forward to meeting on Tuesday. :-)

Cynthea: There are 2 spots with water fountains and city tap water available but if it is hot bringing your own water is highly recommended as Manny indicates above. See you tonight I hope! :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
