Part 2: T-SQL Window Functions in the Realm of Query Logical Processing

The January meeting was so popular that we're continuing this topic in February with Ami Levin of SolidQ.

You'll learn what T-SQL currently offers for window functions, and also show what's missing and how it can be useful for solving real-life challenges.

You'll learn

• Query logical processing and how window functions fit

• The support and limitations of the current implementation of window functions in T-SQL

• Techniques for using window functions to solve common challenges

Ami Levin is a mentor with SolidQ.  He's a regular speaker at SQL Server conferences, and is now co-leader of the Silicon Valley SQL Server User Group.

Thoroughly enjoyed Part 2 presentation. Looking at options for creating online study group for Window functions, using the book shown in class as resource (SQL Server 2012 High-Performance T-SQL Using Window Functions by Itzik Ben-Gan). Even though the title says '2012' there are examples of how to achieve same results using earlier versions of T-SQL in the book. An interesting site for setting up a free study group would be Probably some other options also.

    Anyone interested?

What an adventure! You can't help but like this guy.
    Next is Round 3.
Well, we actually got to Windows Functions tonight. The presentation is very educational and a great review of what we all should know. I am looking forward to getting the code notes from the class tonight and the textbook. Pizza was great this week. Jim Moss

Does anyone happen to know of any Sr. Project Lead Engineers, with Splunk experience, that might be looking for a job? I have an opening and need someone ASAP. $150 an hour, contract to hire. It's for a well funded big data analytics start-up here in the Silicon Valley.
