Sin City Woodworkers March Meeting

Sin City Woodworkers, a Vegas valley social and networking group committed to serious (and not so serious!) woodworking discussions, meet on the third Wednesday of each month to share everything from techniques and ideas to information about local suppliers and much more. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00, and Richard Whitson is our scheduled speaker.

Richard will be sharing his thoughts about attending William Ng's School of Woodworking for a class on joinery. He will be bringing some of the cool joints that he worked on in class - he calls them scraps, but after looking at them, you'll see they're pretty darn fine wood scraps!  This meeting will bring a whole new meaning to the line - pass that joint!

Here's a link to the school:  and here's  a little more info about the class that Richard took:

It's also time for our yearly dues collection. Remember - dues are strictly optional - so don't feel pressured to join. Dues are $20 for the year, and allow you to be entered into our holiday gift give-away at the end of the year. These dues pay for some expenses like our Meet-Up memberships, a holiday party - and of course, all left-over funds go into prizes that our paying members can win. This meeting will be held at Studio: Wood It Is!, 2267 West Gowan, unit 106 in North Las Vegas. As always, the public is welcome to attend the meeting, so members - please feel free to bring a guest along. But remember that there are a limited number of chairs in the woodshop. Attendees might want to bring a folding chair if they wish to sit during the meeting. If you have questions or need directions, call the studio at 631-1870.

Every single time I attend, I learn something new or get new ideas. This is a great group of people. Some of the joints last night blew my mind. It is so humbling to realize how little I know. I look forward to the next meeting.

Richard's presentation on joinery was awesome. We had a very cool discussion tonight.

I agree, matter of fact I'm going to practice a pins first dovetail this morning! He gave the best reason for going pins vs. tails.

I want to try and make this. I have another commitment but I'm still going to try and squeeze this in. If not, then next meeting for sure
