Become a founding member of this cool new group.

Would you like to host this group? We're looking for suggestions on a boardroom location with Internet access preferably and good parking. We have a couple ideas already but could always use more, and by hosting you can provide a marketing moment on your company to the group.

Also, if you would like to present your social media related community, Facebook group, software, service, website, blog or idea, we'd love to hear from you. We'll have a projector for you to use and 10 minutes of air time.

We intend for the meetup to last about 1.5 - 2 hours from 7-9pm. Join our meetup and let us know your favorite evening for our group moving forward. Unless the group is suggests otherwise we're thinking of going on a monthly meeting rotation at this point.

Hope to see you there...
Cheers,
Walter

Hi Cheryl, I think your comments are great although to be fair and clarify, much of the group arrived early and had been chatting prior...also the general 4 point agenda is posted on the group's home page where it mentions a software demo/presentation...Stephen Lau and Judy mentioned they had another event to attend, as did Diane this was not due to the format...however good thoughts and the agenda is up for modification. Weight in if you have format suggestions...

Hey Walter! As you know, my family runs the Golden Rice Bowl Restaurant. We have private rooms, LCD projector screens, top-of-the-line audio, and wireless/wired internet. Give us a try if you'd like (so long as a meal is involved).

Also, the $5.00 per person is to cover refreshments as we're not meeting at a coffee house etc...in the future, it will most likely be possible to have a company sponsor that

I've asked one company if they would be interested in presenting at our meeting and will keep you informed. If you have a suggestion regarding a demo please let me know...

Who attended?

    •  still at it. A really nice venue to meet people and learn how other people use social media. Very good stuff.
    •  I enjoyed the conversation of the affects of multi media and our lives - very interesting to learn about our younger society & the way they embrace this technology - Walter is always a great host!
    •  I think 16 people attended. Not sure. It was really good though. Interesting discussion and it's always great to meet new people. Nice to meet people I've talked to on Twitter but not in real life too. Looking forward to the next one.
    •  Interesting topics. I enjoyed the evening. Thanks for organizing this event!
    •  A nice turn-out for the first meeting of this new group. Lot's of new faces and new things to learn. Thanks to Ken Plumb of Pderas for his presentation and thanks to Tony Ratcliffe of Ratcliffe Wealth & Risk Management for being the host this evening... Next month we're heading to Kimberley Bennett's wellness centre - Inside and Out Naturally.
    •  It was an interesting event. I would suggest changing the evening agenda, taking a few minutes at the beginning for people to introduce themselves, just go around the room. It felt a little weird jumping straight into the presentation on the first meeting. I think some people left early because they weren't expecting a lecture, and didn't realize the discussion was coming later. As for the discussion, I enjoyed meeting the other people and talking to them and learning about new things like Twitter, etc. and how people are using these tools.
    • Doug Kirillo (+1 guest)
Good start Walter, really enjoyed the discussion at the end of the meeting.
