This is a series on stateless societies published on lewrockewll.com back in 2005 that talks about how private dispute resolution might work. The author also did some followup podcasts that went into more detail but I've been unable to locate the specific podcast that I referred to in yesterday's meeting.

The Stateless Society
Caging the Devils: The Stateless Society and Violent Crime
These Cages Are Only For Beasts
Disproving the State
The Stateless Society Fights Back
Forget The Argument From Efficiency
The Argument From Morality
Proving Libertarian Morality
The Argument From Morality in Action: The Right to Health Care

I also do recommend the podcast series:

An Introduction to Philosophy
Freedomain Radio! Volume 1

At the Free Nation Foundation archive page at http://freenation.org... there are lots of interesting articles on solutions to problems that statists often argue require the State, including some on dispute resolution. Also the Common Law Institute wants to become a widely recognized dispute resolution service, among other things.

I just reviewed the first group of links and they are excellent.
