Florida Keys Dive Week!

  • Mar 23, 2013 · 7:45 AM
  • Dive Capital of the World!

Let's go diving!  Last call for Florida Keys Dive Week!

Our sixth annual diving trip to the Florida Keys happens the week of March 23 - 30.  And again this year, we will be offering diving and/or instruction to anyone who would like to come along!

For those of you who have taken the basic course, but still need your open water qualification dives,  this would be a great time to get them done in warm, clear water before the summer diving season starts in Connecticut.

“Advanced Adventure” certification will also be available- an excellent opportunity to see some of the famous deeper wrecks, including the USCGC Duane and the Eagle, to experience the wonder of a night dive, and to learn additional advanced diving techniques. NITROX certification can be earned as well, to double your bottom time.

BUT PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE A COURSE TO COME DIVING WITH US IN KEY LARGO! Just RSVP here, let CAPT Steve know when you're coming, show up in Key Largo anytime between March 23-30, and you can come diving with us. You just have to pay the dive boats for the dive charter(s) and any equipment you may need.

The average water temperature in Key Largo in March is 75+ degrees. Dive site depths range from 15’ to 110’ and the visibility can range from 30’ to 100+’. Most dive sites are only a short boat ride away from the dock. So not only would you be enjoying a great holiday in the Florida sun, you could be completing your certifications with your original instructor - and not have to go through any referral process, or advancing your diving skills.

American Airlines flys directly from LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Miami International (MIA) many times daily.  We will be on Flight 2267 on the way down on the 23rd and on Flight 1754 on the way back on the 30th.  It is generally best to book at, but you can also book through Travelocity or other travel sites.  You can save a bunch of money if you're willing to change planes enroute.  Key Largo is only 60 minutes from the airport. There are many rental car outfits at MIA.  You can also fly into Fort Larderdale (FLL) which is cheaper, but farther from the Keys (two hours vs one hour).

We will be staying at the Key West Inn in Key Largo, and have negotiated DEEP discounts for our rooms.

Special hotel features and amenities include:

  • Two level townhouse suite
  • Master bedroom with Queen size bed upstairs
  • Living room with sofa sleeper downstairs
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Two full baths (one upstairs and one downstairs)
  • Balcony with views of marina
  • Two 27-inch TVs
