Has anyone taken a look at the core rulebook that has been posted? I took a brief look at the classes last night and it looks pretty cool. I am also a big FF fan so of course it looks fun and cool. lol

What's the link?
What system is it? I'd be really interested in a Final Fantasy Tactics RPG, but what I like about FFT already exists in Warhammer Fantasy RPG...well sort of. I would love to see an RPG where you started in one of two basic and broad classes- Melee or Magic and then from there you could specialize further. Like the Melee class at level 2 would split into Defender or Venger and the Magic class could split into Arcane or Divine. Then each of those could split at level 3. They wouldn't always have to split into only 2, or even split at all. And as the classes expand they could even overlap each other, or have entry and exit classes (like WHFRPG) so you could get things like a Warrior Priest, or a Magic Using Thief. |

the rulebook is actually posted in the "files" link on here. and the way the classes work is there are 4: warrior (fighters/melee), Experts (engineers/alchemist), Mages and Adepts (melee/mages). and those 4 classes then have a good amount of subclasses to choose from. i.e, for the mages you have the black mage, red mage, white mage and a bunch of other magic users.
and the system is NOT d20. the dice usded are d6-12 and the % die. this game is def not your ordinary d&d game. i have read through the basic mechanics of gameplay and the character creation so far. and from what i have read i am very interested in playing. it sounds like a really fun game, different, and will take some getting used to. the biggest difference is the hitting and checks are made/failed on a % chance. if anyone else is willing and interested, i am more then willing to learn the mechanics and rules. and even run a session or two w/ the aide of a more experienced dm in regards to designing a campaign. |

I would be interested but I currently am playing or running a game 3 nights a week, and looking to do a once a month minis combat game. I just don't have time right at the moment.
Seriously...don't go away from the group! You have to understand that there is about 6 or 7 of us that are pretty active in the group, unfortunately this has led to games that are 6 or 8 people big and completely full. It seems to me that the new people are having trouble because they join and can't get into a game right away and then stop checking and don't come to meetups. There have been a couple people join in the last month and if they would have come to the last meet up I bet all of you could have formed a group, and at least one of the regulars would have joined in. Most of the people who were at the meetup are regulars and game all in one group. We had 7 people at TMNT one night and the Buffy game is possibly gonna have 8! That's huge and it definitely can't go on like that! It's exhausting to run a game for 6-8 PCs on a regular basis. Please keep trying! Games will open! All we do is sit around and talk about what games we want to play! I will tell you that your best bet is to GM a game, and GM something everybody knows. Final Fantasy may not be the best place to start. I think there would be interest, but a new game with a person who has never gm'd is a lot to commit to with full schedules. What game do you know the best as a player? 3rd Edition D&D? 4th Edition? Something else? Start something as a one night game, like the meetup. You can suggest meetups to Maddman so I bet if you offered to run a 3rd Ed or 4th Ed game on a one time basis you'd get some people. Run something familiar to everyone. Ask about getting a room at Mecca and post it here. I was in the group a month, and running my own game before I was invited to a game. Give it time, people need to get to know you. |

Absolutely, I agree with Eric. My Buffy game, the one that is straining with players, started about the time the meetup started. I just said 'self, I'm going to run a game on Thursdays, for anyone who wants to come'. We had two players at one point, but that group (now doing Buffy) has grown to six core players with at least 3 more wanting to get in. To be honest, I don't think I can keep that up for very long, and may end up splitting the group up with most people playing in one or the other. (Probably shellbelle and Corwyn get into both because they both live at my house :) )
But start something up, see who comes! Or run a game next month for the meetup. Paul at Mecca has always been good to us about playing space, and you know the guy at Capital City as well. And for the record if anyone wants to drop one of my games to play in someone else's, there won't be any hurt feelings. Not that I want to get rid of anyone, you are all awesome. But I understand the time crunch, believe me. |

I finally got a look at this book. Honestly, I hadn't looked till now because I thought it was the D20 version (which I have in PDF). Not too bad, but I have to agree with everyone else, there's just too much going on these days. And unfortunately, my time constraints aren't even game related...

D&D is a little overwhelming to grasp and run, for me. there is a lot to remember and know. and there are already d&d, buffy and vamp games goin. i woulndt mind running a 4e d&d b/c the materail is still little and fresh. everyone is on a learning curve for that edition too. wish i had all my L5R books.
perhaps we can run a small adventure for FF at the next meetup and see what everyone thinks of that. idk why but the FF seems like it would be really fun to play and run. it is just really capturing my attention. if anyone has any suggestions or interest in a particular game let me know and i will consider running it. |
