With all the talk of new games and such, it's become overwhelming to me. Every meetup comes with a poll (or at least every one bt the last), so that's not too bad. But, it seems like everyone wants to play/run all these milions of games out there, most of which I've barely heard of.
So, I've decided to drop a line here to tell some of you some of the games that I would like to play and which ones that I have no interest in playing (due to lack of interest or having played them before and just wasn't all that impressed. I thought that maybe if we all did this, we could find a few games in common and then, maybe, just maybe, we can get a solid schedule for us (even if it's in multiple groups)... Interested in playing... Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, D&D (anything but 4th Ed and preferably 2nd or 3rd), Boot Hill (or any wild west themed game), Munchkin (either cards or D20), something with a pirate setting, and the occasional sci-fi game. Also, the rare game of Magic: the Gathering or any board games wouldn't be too offensive. :) Interested in running... Vampire: the Masquerade. That's it. It takes me too much work to run more than one game at a time. Although, if I can ever get the books read, I might run Munchkin D20 at a meetup. Let me get back to you on that one... Would rather not play... FFRPG, WoW, Call of Cthulu, superhero games, miniatures games, most CCG's and I'd rather not play anything that involves anything fluffy or cuddly in any way. I'd rather not play anything that involves loud, obnoxious people who can't keep from being disruptive in the middle of games with talk of "This reminds me of that time we played..." or any Munchkiny topics of discussion. Dude, you do realize this is a group for *gamers*, right? Next thing you'll want to ban cheetos and wolf shirts. :p But its an interesting topic. I've got my Buffy game, which is one of my all time favorites. I'm running M&M and keep threatening to run a game of 4e now and then. I listed the current things I'd run for meetups, no need to go over them here. Basically anything I don't have to work too hard at. Interested in playing, well I'll play any damn thing. I prefer games that don't have the 'heroes' journey'. I don't need to start out as a greenhorn and work my way up. I want to start with the character I have in mind, not "work" towards it. Yes, Luke Skywalker started as a simple farm boy with no real experience or non vaporator related skills. But Han Solo started the movie as an experienced pilot and smuggler. That's what I'd rather do. Also prefer simpler systems to more complex ones. Would rather not play - Well, I'll play any damn thing, as I said. Really not too interested in Palladium. Or 3e D&D. But I still would if someone was going to run one and the idea sounded sweet. System matters much less to me than GM and group. Still, a wonky system can make a game less enjoyable. |

...Han Solo started the movie as an experienced pilot and smuggler. That's what I'd rather do. But he ended up as a sappy douchebag, while Luke ended up as a black wearing bad ass. Would rather not play...Palladium. I don't think there's any danger of that. ![]() System matters much less to me than GM and group. Still, a wonky system can make a game less enjoyable. I agree with this whole heartedly. I would play in a diceless system where I got to develop a character and his relationships with the rest of the group. I don't need rules to roleplay...but I need a break in the combat to role play! I like the games with a nice mix of combat and RP. That said, if somebody busted out a dungeon crawl like Descent or Warhammer Quest I would be all over it. |

I will still try most anything but that has changed a bit only due to how much gaming is now available. Would I try oh say..Star Wars? yeah probably, but would I give up a game I'm in or one of the few nights I am not gaming for it...no. So basically when I'm a beggar I won't be a chooser but when the buffet is full, I'm def gonna pick the tasties! Here are what I consider the priority games for me.....
1.Vampire The Masquerade 2.Werewolf The Apocalypse 3.3rd ed DND 4.Boot Hill 5.WWF the RPG 6.Warhammer FRP 7.Any other old World of Darkness game 8.Buffy/Angel Also trying out Exalted is high up there but I am unsure if I dig it. |

Next thing you'll want to ban cheetos and wolf shirts. :p No, wolf shirts are fine... Cheetos on the other hand? I don't know so much... But enough of those energy drinks all ready! Kidding by the way. Also, Eric, how is this topic a troll topic? I'm simply trying to get us agree on something for a change... ROFL! |
