Walk in New Castle & Champagne brunch at Wentworth by the Sea

1/26 – Bubbles and Jazz Sunday Brunch – Domaine Chandon

Description at: http://winterwinefestival.com/#menu-7

Shore Walk followed by Bubbles and Jazz Sunday Brunch – Domaine Chandon
@ Wentworth by the Sea during their Winter Wine Festival. I've made a reservation for our group for 10:30.

The brunch cost is $34.95; with 20% gratuity and 9% tax, plan for a total of $45.71. There is no dress code, but the event is held in the Ballroom so "business casual" is the suggestion. Our pre-brunch "activity will be appropriately tame. But enough to assuage any guilt to come!

There is a less expensive buffet brunch offering as well, but that is not what I had in mind. Going for the big treat in this instance. ;^)  However, no problem if you choose the other option and choose to only join us for the walk.

NOTE: This is such a fun day! The Music Hall in downtown Portsmouth is celebrating their 135th anniversary from 1-4 (free Historic & Tech tours  and photo opps) followed by a showing of "The Wizard of Oz" at 4pm. I plan to keep up with all of the activities (after our Striding Gourmands activity), if I can still move after brunch.

Happy you had a good time. Glad you're not mad we left you behind in the parking lot! It will *not* happen again.

No worries whatsoever. Next time I'll allow more time for finding the place. I'm very glad I hung around -- lunch was fabulous.

I was sorry to lose the "round" table so everyone could to talk with one another, but can't knock warm sunny and more intimate conversation. Thanks for coming!

Not a problem -- and I'll be sure to tell Mike I met you. Hope I see you on a 4 Seasons activity. Did you see the one, "It's not about the hike?" It's a presentation about two women hikers who started off small and worked their way up.

      January 26, 2014

    • Brenda

Yes, Dianna, I have had my eye on that event. Looks so interesting! I am busy that day, but if my plans fall through and it's not too late, I would like to attend. If I do and you're going, I'll see you there.

So glad you found us despite the detour.

Hubby and I were excited to walk with this group but the winds make it too cold for me...enjoy everyone and we will see u next month.

    January 26, 2014

    • Catherine C.

Yes, the winds are here. Dress warm! But what a beautiful day!!!

      1 · January 26, 2014

    • Andrea W.

Yes, a bit brisk. See you both next month, Natalie.

      January 26, 2014

  • Paul

Due to the sub-zero windchill, I'm going to skip the walk and just meet you at the Wentworth instead.

    January 26, 2014

    • Andrea W.

      Gotcha! See you there.

      January 26, 2014

  • Sandi S.

Will we be walking along roads or beach, trying figure out footwear.

    January 25, 2014

    • Dianna H.

      Ditto on the footwear.

      January 25, 2014

    • Andrea W.

Both and possible a bit of rock. We cab change our route to accommodate footwear, but the weather (or lack of it) takes getting close to water possible. The decision should be based more on comfort to walk 2-2.5 miles; no heels!

  • Natalie

Are you still looking for suggestions as to where to have this brunch?

    January 20, 2014

    • Natalie

Ok...great. Dianne mentioned that the brunch was around 16.00 if we go by 10:30...is that the plan or does the original info you posted above still apply?

      January 21, 2014

    • Andrea W.

The whole point for me was to do the champagne brunch as part of the month-long wine festival...a fun, indulgent treat. Not all outings will be as extravagant, and usually open to each person choosing/purchasing according to their interest, taste/purse.

We might even do a picnic once the weather warms.

      January 21, 2014

  • Ellen H.

I have finally figured out my schedule for the weekend. It is to late to join us guys?

    January 20, 2014

    • Andrea W.

Gald you can make it, Ellen. I'll call WbtS with a final count on Thursday.

      January 20, 2014

  • Bob C.

I am good for the breakfast buffet earlier, not a huge fan of champagne (wines yes), and then as Dianne said go walking. Whatever you plan Andrea is good with me.

    January 19, 2014

    • Andrea W.

Bob, I'll have to drink your champagne. ;^)

      January 20, 2014

  • TimJ

Looking forward to the Bubbles and Jazz - thanks Andrea!!

    1 · January 20, 2014

  • Andrea W.

We have a reservation at WbyS; too many of us for Michelle's. I'll double confirm everything mid-week.

    January 19, 2014

  • Andrea W.

Slip of the finger. We're still on for the Wentworth brunch next Sunday. Out of town working on my laptop and shifted everything onto the floor… Oops!

    January 19, 2014

  • Dianne D.

I think we can still do the Wentworth but earlier. They offer a breakfast buffet for around $15.95 until 10:30 It does not have the champagne however is terrific. Go walking after. and then to the Music Hall

Another option is Michelle's in Portsmouth great brunch place can do a noon reservation and then walk to Music Hall and walk around town

    January 19, 2014

  • Bob C.

    Andrea,

Your message about your making a brunch reservation answered a question I had. I wasn't sure if we had to individually make a reservation and I thank you for making one for all of us.

This event incorporates many things I enjoy doing including exercise, good wine, good food with good/fun people at a wonderful place. What could be better than this type of event?
