This will be an introductory paddling trip on the new Wateree river Blue way section, directly below the Wateree Dam. the section is about 7 miles long, all down stream. Along the way we will be stopping at one of the islands for a lunch/swim break. this is a family friendly event and an easy paddle trip, with only a few riffles to navigate. The Water is also surprisingly clear on this section of the Wateree.
Agenda: Meet at the Highway 1 Boat ramp at 9:00 AM sharp. Its just outside of Camden on the Wateree river, coming from the east the turn off is directly after you cross the river on your left. From there we will consolidate vehicles and gear and head to the launch point below the Wateree Dam. The trip should take only about 4 or 5 hours tops, and thats including goofing around time.
PFDs are REQUIRED for everyone. Also it should go with out saying but if you cant swim dont go....
Nice things to bring, lunch, water, sun screen, squirt gun, camera and TP just in case!!
Last time we did this trip we had a couple of Bald Eagles accompany us for awhile, unfortunately I didn't get any really good shots of them with my camera that time, perhaps this time I will.
This stretch of river is sutible for all kinds of non-inflatable boats so bring what you got!!!
