Due to popular demand, I will be running the Vivid Festival Night Photography Tutorial again. Places ran out really last time, so reserve your spot soon to not miss out.

Vivid Sydney Festival is around the corner!!! YAY!!!

If you are unfamiliar with the annual Vivid Festival, it is one of Sydney's premier events where you can see The Sydney Opera House bathe in a multitude of dazzling lights. Major buildings around Circular Quay will come alive with 3D light show. There will be several interactive light installations throughout The Rocks, Circular Quay and Walsh Bay to keep you entertained... and it is no doubt perfect to opportunity to photograph the vibrant lights of Sydney on your camera.

I will once again be running a night photography tutorial capture the best parts of Vivid Sydney Festival.

The Vivid Sydney Festival Night Photography Tutorial is aimed at beginner and intermediate photographers that already understand the basic concepts of photography (i.e. aperture, shutter and ISO) but haven't had much experience with night photography, or for those that need a refresh their knowledge of night photography.

WHAT IS IN THE TUTORIAL

The tutorial will commence with a sit down class, teaching the essential aspects of night photography. I will also make sure you know how to change the settings on your camera. From there we will wander to several Vivid Sydney Festival installations around Sydney Harbour to put the concepts learnt in the tutorial into practice. The first part of the tutorial is teaching the basic camera settings required for night photography. From there I will show some interesting techniques that will make you photos more interesting.

It was a really good night for photography! I haven’t downloaded my photos yet, but from what I can see, i have certainly improved since I took my Beginner’s Class a couple of weeks ago, and I feel a lot more confident handling a camera and a tripod to boot. Thanks Richie! I’m leaning to enjoy my new hobby, I wanted to know my camera a little better, and I enjoy meeting new people. Doing Vivid was such a great way to do all three in one meet-up. Richie was organised, provided us with prepared notes, and made sure he spent time with each of us, explaining the techniques and helping out with camera settings. He was generous with his technical knowledge (tips and tricks) but was mindful to ‘tone it down’ for the newbies also. Looking forward to learning more in the next tutorial.
