Potluck at Secor MetroPark

A great place for a picnic; it is not too crowded but is still a beautiful park. Bring a dish, a blanket, a chair and an appetite :-) we can bring a card table to set food up on in case all picnic bench's are taken. Yummy fun!

A picnic at Wild Wood might work out better next time. It's not way out of toledo like secor park and most of the meetups. It worked out great before, a huge turnout.

It sounds like no one will be going, with car seats we have no room to carpool...sorry Jessica :-( we will just stay home & look forward to the next one!

I don't need to worry about bringing a dog so is there anyone near maumee off of heatherdowns that could give me a ride?

Sorry Guys! We can't go after all. Adam is covering the Veggie U event in Cleveland (https://www.facebook.com/VeggieU?ref=profile) for one of the local papers. I will be also making a video for it. Sorry about missing this one!

If someone would be able to give me a ride, I would come. I will be in Maumee Dog sitting during this time and possibly may need to bring the sweet old gal Molly with me. She is a beagle. Since I won't be home I will be limited on what I can bring but it will be some sort of baked goods. I see traveling girl is bringing chocolate chip cookies so I won't be making those.

I would love to give you a ride, but I would have to leave my husband at home, lol. Our car seats take up the entire backseat, even my paper thin little niece can't fit in between them. Are there any Maumee or Perrysburg vegans?

Well it would be me and likely the dog so my chances are pretty slim adding the dog lol

Meadow view is the first parking area to the left when you enter off Bancroft.

If you enter from Central, keep to the right when the road splits and Meadowview will be the second area on your right.
And if you enter from Irwin or Wolfinger (via Bancroft), go past the National Center for Nature Photography and Meadowview will be the second area on your right.

The meadow view picnic area was still available last week. She said if it does not get reserved then it is first come first serve. There is a large meadow and some shaded area for us to just "camp out" in if it ends up taken. I will plan to bring a table to set food up on just in case :-) we are making tempeh tacos (they have some spice to them, so protest now if you prefer mild) & vegan chocolate chip cookies.

Where should everyone meet? There are at least 3 different areas with picnic tables.

no, it doesn't mean the meetup you've suggested is a no go it will be a 'go' if two more people sign up for it, I believe is how that works. I was offering to post it if you wanted to reserve a space. If enough people are ok with not having a reserved space then it will happen. I understand your point of view on this type of picnic. For myself, by the time I make food and drive an hour, I don't want to sit in my car by myself because it's raining, or sit on the ground if there are no tables. I might feel different if it were a ten minute drive for me. So it looks like just two more folks have to be down with it and RSVP and it will be announced to the group via the site. I love the idea of more picnics and am happy to do what i can to help make that happen, personally, I'd just feel better with a reserved space. And again, the expense can be shared.
Thanks for putting this out there though, and I hope it goes.
    peace,
    Don

Thank you Don, I understand your point with a long drive and possibility of rain. I suppose this will be an RSVP at your own risk picnic. I will keep looking for other options to suggest, that may be more affordable, for future Meetup's. Thanks for responding, we will make something we really like in case no one else shows up. :-)

    Hi Don,
There is one open air shelter available for that day, but it is $80. I like the thought of having more frequent opportunities too :-) Folks are already spending money on food, so it would be nice to keep it free, I would not want to ask for additional money from people though. I pack up our lunch boxes and take the kids to the park for picnics a lot, so I guess for us the shade of a tree and a blanket to sit on makes for a fun occasion. So this meetup is a no go?

It's worth considering reserving a shelter for this event. It is always good to know you have a place to sit and a roof in case it rains a little. Sometimes there's an expense to reserve a shelter, but that can be shared by the attendees. If you decide to reserve a spot, I'll be happy to post the meetup on our site.
I like the idea of more picnics too and am happy to help and if I attend, I'm glad to kick in money on the reservation fee. Thanks for your input and help.
