Our next visit will be to Light of Gurkha, a Nepalese restaurant nestled between Tooting and Balham. Nepalese food is diverse, and draws on influences from India and Tibet, as well as native cuisines such as Newari. The food is fresh and exciting, and you will find ingredients and flavour combinations that will delight and astound you!
Be prepared for dishes such as Lamb Karnali, Chicken Khorsani, Phewa Fish, Phaelo Pharsi and Bhuteko Ko Khukra (try pronouncing those after a few drinks!). But don't be afraid, they also serve the more well-known dishes such as kormas, bhunas and dhansaks
7pm - Drinks at The Duke of Devonshire (39 Balham High Road, SW12 9AN)
7:45pm - Head for dinner at Light of Gurkha (88 Balham High Road, SW12 9AG)
The pub is halfway between Balham and Clapham South tubes. We'll be out in the rear garden in the pub if the weather is nice. If you can make it earlier than 7pm, please post a message on the meetup notice board
As usual we will be sharing the bill equally, because splitting the bill is too much hassle for large groups
I will be taking a £2 payment for this meetup. £1 towards the bill and £1 towards my meetup fees
