I changed the name of this meetup because it is for people who like looking at gardens. You do not have to have a garden or even know the name of plants. You just need to have an appreciation of nature.
Looking for something to do? Come with us to check out the gardens in our area and further afield. As a Garden Traveler, we'll take easy walks and explore natural beauty and enjoy garden design. Join people with a common interest - enjoying gardens - meet new members, exchange ideas, and share tips.
Treat your senses to the truly fantastic array of sights and smells around the New York area gardens. You don't need to know a lot, because the tours are relaxed, very sociable affairs that you can enjoy at any level. You'll need to be fit enough to spend part of the day on your feet visiting gardens, able to walk on grass and pavement. Whether you go for inspiration, or gardening advice, or just for a pleasant day out in a tranquil setting, you will have a good time.
Have an idea to suggest? Please do! Come to our next meetup, too! You'll find we are a friendly bunch.
NEW! We are pleased to advise that we have been approved as an affiliated garden society by the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society), the largest network of gardening clubs in the UK.
NEW! We are expanding the focus of the group to include other interesting sites and events. Please make suggestions.
Many people don't realize that Meetup charges organizers to keep a Meetup group going. Our annual dues help offset the fee we are charged. $5 is due on June 1 and covers the period from June through May of the following year.
I am trying to keep this a "Yes" only group so, if the timing of a certain event doesn't work for you or it is not something that you are interested in, we understand and we'll see you at some other event. In that case, please don't feel like you need to respond by RSVPing with a "No" but if you are planning to join us at an event, please RSVP "Yes" as early as possible.
