THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL!

Windy Dryden on "Anxiety: The Key Therapy Issues" plus Live CBT Sessions.

Dear Members,

Join us for our next meet up on 18th June at King's College London, Strand Campus, WC2R 2LS.

Windy Dryden on "Anxiety: The Key Therapy Issues" plus Live CBT Sessions

At this meet up Professor Windy Dryden will present on key therapy issues for anxiety and demonstrate some live CBT sessions with volunteers so that you can see CBT in action and ask questions

This meet up will be a great chance to see CBT in action and learn from live demonstrations with Professor Windy Dryden and volunteers from the audience.  After each demonstration the audience are invited to ask Professor Dryden and his volunteer questions. This is an enjoyable and effective way to learn and share ideas at a fabulous central London venue.

If you are new to CBT or thinking of training as a CBT coach, then this is an excellent opportunity to see demonstrations and network with therapists and coaches as well as people who are interested in CBT, psychotherapy or psychology.

City CBT Coaching College will provide a continuing professional development (CPD) letter confirming two hours of CPD.

Volunteers means you! We will need 3-4 volunteers for the live demonstration sessions so please let me know if you would like to volunteer and have some free therapy or coaching. Windy is happy to go with whatever you bring. Let me know if you have any questions.

This was my first meetup and found professor Dryden's talk informative and extremely entertaining. The live sessions were a great way to bring to life what was said in the talk. Thank you to the 2 volunteers they were very brave. I had many doubts CBT worked despite the evidence but now I understand it I consider it one of the most powerful tools we have to fight depression and anxiety. Also the organisation of the meetup was excellent.

Since this is a talk on anxiety, perhaps it is ok to post this here. I have a friend (he has given me permission to post about him) who has what I would think could be called severe anxiety, to the point where he experiences disabling anxiety about even doing simple things around the house or attempting minor tasks.
This has prevented him from moving forward with his life and any of his dreams and goals since he was about 19. He's now 32.
I would love it if someone who might be able to help him would be prepared to work with him. He doesn't have the money to pay, unfortunately, because he has been unable to work productively for many years as a result of the anxiety.
If this sounds interesting to anyone, please get in touch with me through the email link on my profile, and I will put you in touch.
    Many thanks!

Hi Bruce - I am told that the NHS's IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy) service is available without the need to wait too long to start the therapy (I'm sure you know that is the reason for the introduction of IAPT!) Just Google the name and the website shows a list of areas etc and whether your friend would need to apply via his GP (may IAPTs are self-refer). If he is able to leave the house to attend a support and or structured recovery group, I help to run Anxiety Care UK which is based in Ilford, Essex. We run 3 groups per week - just Google the name (not sure if I'm 'permitted' to give our website name as it might be seen as advertising). Hope this helps, because some people don't realise how anxiety affects lives.

Hi I have been training with Nicola & Phil for the past few years - I am working on my diploma on CBT Coaching and am looking for case studies for my dissertation, perhaps if any of you are in WEST London and would like some free coaching then we could meet up?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
