The group challenge set at the end of the July BFONG was to organise an event at the Agora empty shop project in New Road, Shoreham.
Two sets of ideas were put forward. We can choose to do both on separate days, both on the same day, or one of the projects. A date in August or early September needs to be agreed upon. Project one was a skill swapping day. Ideas suggested were varied and included knitting, repairs etc. to setting up a Twitter account, blog, Facebook, etc. I would suggest creating a list of skills we can share. Project two was a snapshot of Shoreham, a day in the life. Ideas suggested included setting up a video box, inviting people to bring along items and photographs, creating a Posterious/Tumblr account with videos, photographs and mini interviews, resulting in an exhibition. We need to establish the dates people are available and take it from there. |

Even though I am stepping down as organiser, I would love to come back and help with this. I'm fairly flexible about dates, but something early September or early October would suit me best.

Definitely up for helping with this. Being largely talentless and having no skills to share, I can help out with the snapshot project. Will have a think about how to drum up publicity beforehand.
One thing I can help with for the former is finding local groups who already exist. There's a stitch & bitch that meets in one of the bars nearby on Monday nights, for example, who might be willing to help out. |

I'd be pleased to help with a snapshot of Shoreham ... perhaps with mini interviews and posting to Posterous/Tumblr account?

I’m fairly flexible on dates given sufficient notice – particularly if we choose a Saturday. Some skills I could pass on are:
How to change a plug How to bleed a radiator How to play three chords on a guitar How to set up a blog How to brew your own beer Er, that’s it. But the best thing will be to get local people teaching each other. Cheers John |

We can all plug the event through our Twitter and Facebook accounts. I'll get a story in the Shoreham Herald.
I'm sure Dan will promote the event on the ArtistMakers and Empty Shops blogs, so publicity isn't an issue really. |

I'm happy to help but I'm away on holiday from 13th August for about 10 days, so towards end of August/early September would be better for me. except Sat, 4th September. If the people offering talent exchanges don't have to be strictly from Shoreham, I can think of a few great local talents local to me in Newhaven, who would probably be pleased to contribute (good PR for them too): a professional storyteller (and creative write teacher), a card making teacher, etc.

I'm available at the end of August from 21st and beginning of September, but not after 10th, although I am overseeing 13 website relaunches!
If we combine the two things I'm happy to offer Twitter, Facebook page and blog setting up advice. Dan's recording features on the Empty Shops website: emptyshopsradio.com Podcast 29 Edited by Sarah Booker Lewis on Jul 27, 2010 4:16 PM |

This seems to have stalled a little, but given that I'm now a Shoreham resident, I'm happy to get involved in any way I can...
