Permaculture Vancouver!

Permaculture Vancouver meets every third thursday of the month:

This group is now transitioning to a monthly potluck format, in conjunction with Village Vancouver. There are currently 3 monthly potlucks  - East West and Central. The model is a potluck and workshop. We are encouraging you to visit a regular potluck and then when the momentum rises for other neighbourhoods, let them be formed!

Come meet with fellow Permaculture enthusiasts to share your skills, knowledge, and questions.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with or start projects around the city!

If you have extra harvest produce/seeds/plants to share or sell, please bring them.

Information and volunteer opportunities to help design and implement permaculture methods.

Volunteer opportunities to put our skills into action with local farming alliances.

Permaculture is about creating sustainable human habitats. It is about taking the energy from the land and encouraging it to cycle back into the land, to reuse it as many times as possible before letting it go (out to the sea of entropy, where we can't use it any more) so for example, a piece of land receives sun wind and rain. if we catch those... and use them judiciously, we can make our garden grow, and feed animals who will poop and return that to the land, and pretty soon we have better soil, better food, some protection, and eventually something to build with.

I showed up tonight to the potluck, after rushing like a mad person to get home from work, the food together and get there - to find out that only one other person showed up for Permaculture reasons, most of the people there were doing a clothing swap and hanging out. That was fine, but I was hoping to discuss permaculture in regards to growing food sustainably, and while I know that recycling clothes and visiting is good for the earth and people, I was sorry to not see all you people who signed up! :(

I totally was going to go as well but decided at the last minute that a) I was too busy this week and, more importantly, b) that this meet up situation seems highly unorganised and unengaged and uninterested in getting people to actually come out and figured it may not be the best group.

This week there was a clothing swap instead of a permaculture workshop, and the potluck began at 6:30 pm and ended before 8:15 pm.

Hi Jane, I signed up for another group and didn't realize I signed up for this one. I thought I just joined the group, but I joined the meeting as well. My apologies for the no show.

Hi there, I would like to learn more about gardening. Is the potluck this Thursday?
