It's time for Vancouver to have it's self-help/support group for people who stutter. Once we had it, then we became 'overly busy with other stuff' and we let the group to fade. In the times when emailing and texting became so easy ways of communication, they still can not replace the real communication (and we know it). So, lets start the group again and meet twice a month to share experiences, practice our speech, become friends with our stuttering or find a way for better fluency, or self-confidence, or less anxiety etc. For me, a person who stutters, self-help group was beneficial in many ways, but the main one was to convince me that I am not alone in my struggle with speech.

Who is welcome: Every adult who has or thinks he/she has a speech impediment (stutters, blocks, stammers), avoids speaking, covered stutterers (you know what I mean don't you?), cured stutterers...

Our first meeting will take place on Friday 14th Jan 2011 at the Kitsilano Community Centre (2690 Larch Street), in the Meeting room. Time: 7-8:30 pm.
