Heritage Festival and 5K Run at Kaweah Oaks Preserve!

5K Run/Walk

7 AM: Preserve opens for event-day registration.

**Register now online! www.sequoiariverlands.org** Sign up before April 10 to receive a race day t-shirt. Adults: $25, Child (under 13): $15; Same day registration will be accepted for an additional $5.00.

8:30: Race begins!

9:30: After race snacks and refreshments served, awards given out for overall winner (male/female) and by 10-year increments.


The Heritage Festival: 10am-3pm

Join us as we celebrate the rich history, culture and natural resources of the Central Valley!

10:00 AM: Opening ceremony with drumming

10:15 AM: Indigenous story-telling about history of local Yokuts tribe(s) and Kaweah Oaks preserve

Activities and Demonstrations:
*Traditional basket weaving * Tule hut construction *Crafting
*Acorn mush cooking for kids * Native dance and song *Drumming

12:30 -1 PM: Musical Guest Lance Canales and the Flood

Available For Sale All Day: Local produce from Family Farm Fresh, artisan crafts & foods from the Visalia Farmers Market, native jewelry, Indian tacos and beautiful native plants from SRT's own Native Plant Nursery!

**Donation requested for festival visitors SRT members: $3, non-members $6 (Runners and volunteers enter at no charge!)**

Looking to volunteer?? Assist with collecting donations, booth set-up, trash collection, and directing parking, and receive FREE admission to the event!
Three shifts are available: 9-11, 11-1 and 1-3. Please contact Hannah at [masked] or[masked] x 117 to sign up for a shift! 

Where: Kaweah Oaks Preserve is located approximately seven miles east of Visalia. Take Hwy. 198 east and make a left (heading north) on Rd. 182. Entrance about ½ mile up the road on the left-hand side of Rd. 182.

    Brent and I attended only the festival which began at 10. Quite small but some lovely crafting. Beautiful area, a sacred space and ceremony was held. Lovely walk as well.

      It looked like the vendors set up in that side sacred space oak area to the south of the race starting line. It was quite small tho. It didn't begin till 10, after the race. I got a lovely hand made jewelry set too : )
