A Photo Safari shootout

I am sorry but I have been commissioned for a photography job from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM that day now so if possible I would like to move the time to 3:00 PM at the same location or you guys tell me if you would lkie to make it for Sunday and not worry about the Thomaston contest and just have a photo safari on finding the light for good portraits in an urban area.  Again, I am sorry but please let me know what you want.  After the walkabout on Sunday, approx[masked] minutes, we can go back to the elks and view your images to critique.  Sunday would be a 1:00 PM meet.

I suggest this so we can all compete in the Thomaston Fine Arts Connection Contest a Moment in Time and the requirements state that the image must be taken this date. I will have entry forms with me that date.

I enjoyed it and I learned some things. It was very cold though.

Saturday at 3pm works better for me. Let's all pray for a "heat wave"!!! It's frigid outside! :>)

When is this event now, at 11 am or 3 pm , or 4pm? Still at the Lodge?

Saturday at 3:00 PM would be good for me - I'd bring a reflector and an off camera flash.

Sunset on Saturday is 5:01 PM - I like shooting 30 minutes before till 30 minutes after sunset for natural light portrait, but whatever.

As of now I see a high of 32 and a 40% change of precipitation with partial cloud cover (I don't think the weather people know what they are talking about), so dress warm and bring an umbrella (for rain or snow, but a cheap Westcott would work too)!

Everything depends on the weather and yes I will have a reflector and an external flash that everyone will be able to use.

The contest has a $5 entry fee and you have to submit a minimum 8x10 mounted on a 16x20 mat. I can't find any information about actual prizes. If it's just recognition, I'm not going to submit an entry - I'm not going pro so I need stuff more than popularity or bragging rights! This is just my hobby.

That being said, I would like to attend this anyhow, just to meet some new people.

Why are we shooting mid-day? Wouldn't a sunrise or sunset be better for natural light? As Sue asked, is this going to be an outdoor event? If so, do we have any alternatives if the weather is bad?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
