THE 100th MEETUP

Hello Everyone,

A little over four years ago, I was in the middle of a divorce and became the organizer of this group. I was confused, needed answers and had no one to talk to about the divorce process. It was a feeling that has been (or is) shared by many others. Little did I know then that so many wonderful people would come together, become such good friends, and be part of creating a group that is so important to so many. We are about to have our 100th Meetup. I am humbled to be the organizer this group and want to thank all of you for the contributions you have made in making this group the success that it is. Hope you can make it to Traverso's on the 17th.

                                                                                            Steve

For those just joining us... We are a laid back and casual group of people that get together and share information and support concerning divorce without any formal agenda. There is no reason to feel nervous or intimidated about attending the meetups. I can assure you that you will feel welcome and will make many new friends.

Please be advised that the Google map that gets attached to the meetup page is often erroneous

I needed a reason to meet up with the group for the first time. Seems celebrating 100 years is a good reason.

I can't believe I did that?! So sorry. You sure don't look your age if that were the case :) Hope your event went well.

Great to see people again. Steve did a great job again getting us a place to meet and support each other. We have to get through the introductions quicker next time.

I thank you for the kind words, but with the last part I have to respectfully disagree... However long introductions take is what it will need to be. I acknowledge that the other night was drawn out and that it was by far the longest it has ever taken, but it was a productive experience for many members. Everyone was focused on what they wanted to express. No conversations started during the introductions, there was no unrelated babble, and there was less levity than usual. I have moved it along in the past for these reasons, but it wasn't the case this time. As the emails I received can attest... People welcomed an opportunity to verbalize their emotions and uncertainties. I wouldn't want to quell that. If people can receive some satisfaction or contentment from having a large forum listen to their concerns and as a result, it takes longer than usual - then it is something the rest of us in attendance will have to accept.

Last night I realized what a truly wonderful group this is! To sit and listen brought back many memories to me, showed me how far I have come, and made me want to help everyone that is going through bad times.
Please know that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and it is so much better on the other side of it all!

Steve, Thank you for organizing this group. This is a place where we can
share the unpleasantries that come with a divorce. We are confused, lonely and feel lost with our "new status". But because of you, we come together to grieve and attempt to start a new path. Thank You, Steve.

Thank you, Steve, for keeping this group going! 10 months ago, I needed a place to turn, and this was it. I know "introductions" ran long, but it gave me, who hadn't been there for a bit (or was to overwhelmed to talk) a chance to find support, and other new persons explain their angst, which I feel, IMHO, is cathartic, and tightens one's bond to the group. I had to leave due to a threat I received, which made me physically sick.

Hi! This would be my first time at one of these provided it's not too, too far. Did I see 91st Street & Naperville Rd? I'd be coming from Rt 64 & Kirk Rd in St Charles. I'm not sure how far that is. What I'm also wondering is, how does this work? Do we order off of a menu or is it a buffet with a flat rate per person? If anyone has any answers, I'd appreciate it, thanks!

100 meet-ups for this support group! Steve, you have opened so many doors of support for all of us. I have made many new friends. When I joined I had locked myself away by verbal and mental abuse. Being involved with all these wonderful people sure did add a new wonderful chapter to my life as most of you know. When one door closes another one opens. Thank you for opening that door for me.
Even though I am working a 6a-6p and then another 6am shift the next day I would not miss this..... I know how special this group is to you and how much time and energy you put into it. Congrats! I will get you a beer but you pay!!! LOL!!!!
I sure hope that all the first timers show up. I know how important this is to you and everyone that you have helped get though this tough time. You Rock! And so does this group!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
