The Westchester Outdoor Meetup Group Pages

This is a beginner hiking group. I am still somewhat of a beginner myself, so I'm learning everything as a I go. I wanted to find people to accompany me on hikes and enjoy nature.

This is a local group based in Westchester County. Our hikes will mostly be in the easy, beginner range of Westchester County. However, occasionaly the hikes will extend to Harriman State Park, the Cold Spring area, Queens, New Jersey, and other tri-state areas. We focus on sharing the joy of wonderful nature and scenery with like-minded friends for the joys of long-lasting camaraderie.

Responsibility of all hikers: (YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU)
Join these hikes only at your own risk. The hike leader and those connected to this group and this website may not be held responsible for the safety or well-being of anyone or their pets who chooses to join these hikes. By going with us, you agree to research the trip, send the organizer or others questions as necessary. On the trail, we all care for each other as friends, not as guides or leaders or agents – if you sign up to come, you agree to take primary responsibility for yourself. By signing up you pledge to agree not to hold anyone responsible if something somehow goes wrong.

All children are welcome! You are responsible for all children under your care and can reasonably complete the hike.

We strongly encourage all hikers to bring along identification, medical insurance card (if applicable) and emergency contact names and phone numbers.

Domestic pets are welcome where it says in the hike description. All pet owners must bring a leash along, in case needed, for the safety of all hikers, other pets and your pet. We are not responsible for your pet or it's actions. If you are deathly afraid of dogs, and are attending a hike - please advise an organizer ASAP, so we can try to accommodate.

ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS POLICY: We wait 15 minutes only for late attendees that have already signed up for an event.

Group Size- The group size will be determined based on the hike and the rules of the land we will be hiking on. Hikes fill up fast! Please update your 'YES'- or 'MAYBE' RSVP if your plans change so members on the waiting list can attend the hike.
