Rockwell Library Meetup

**Edit 4/20** I forgot to mention this in the original post, but, as always, remember to upload your piece to the Files tab by 4/27 so everyone has the chance to look at your work carefully before the meeting.

Sorry about the excessive edits.  I'm sure one day I'll get it all done in one post.

**Edit 4/14** This is the image for the prompt:

Thanks for uploading it Ken. Sorry it took me so long to realize it was there.

**Original Post**

Hey everyone,

The next meetup is going to be at a different library since the one we used last time is already reserved. The time and duration will be the same as always.

Date: 5/4/13
Time: 1:00 PM
Duration: 2 hours
Location: Rockwell Public Library

Ken has been kind enough to reserve us a room again so there's plenty of room and quiet for everyone. However, it does cost $15, so if everyone could bring a couple dollars with them when they arrive, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Now, onto the interesting parts. I was very happy to see the range of interpretations of the Grey Goose Ghost prompt. I really enjoy using these prompts to take me out of my comfort zone and push my creativity.

As a side note, though, these monthly prompts are not the only things we're interested in critiquing and sharing. If you have another piece you're working on, and you'd like some constructive critique, feel free to upload your work under the files tab and start a conversation about it under the discussions tab. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're interested in reading anything the group has come up with either in person at the meetings or online in the discussion board here.

Ken has also been kind enough to present us this month's prompt, which is a picture...of something. I don't want to describe it with words at all here, but I would love to post the photo. I only have a hard copy, not the file as of today, so if Ken could send me the picture, I'd be happy to post it in the discussions tab.

I hope to see everyone next month; I'll update this when we get the photo posted.

Thanks!

-Ashley

Hope I'm putting this in the right place....My suggestion for a prompt for June is the following: Pick either Mothers' Day or Fathers' Day. I thought of this because both Mother and Father are "loaded" terms and could go any of a number of ways.

Yup! I've quoted your prompt in the next suggested meetup on 6/1. Thanks for the suggestion. I agree; this prompt can have many interpretations.

Hey, we had a pretty good meeting today. We were definitely short in attendance, so I hope more of us will be able to make it to next month's meeting. I'll have the info up soon; Celia is going to try to come up with a prompt for the June 1st meeting within the next day or so.

Also, if anyone would like to have a look at the story, TV Land, I've uploaded and talk about it either in June or anytime in the forums, that would be great. I'd love to get some feedback one way or another on it.

Four and not five stars only because there were so few writers there. I had hoped for more!

Okay, I'll admit it--I'm technologically challenged. Where is the files tab? If nothing else, I will simply print out my submission and bring along tomorrow.

It's cleverly hidden. Click on the "More" tab. It's a subsection of that.

Thanks! Will do. I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Okay, so I broke my own rule. I've uploaded a revised version of one of my old stories. I know it's very late, but I'd appreciate getting feedback on it.

    Thanks.

I am not seeing any prompt entries, please submit so we have time to read prior to the meet up. Looking forward to see everyone on Saturday.

I have to cancel. I have my kids that weekend. I will try to visit next meet.

Okay. Sorry that we'll miss you. The next meeting will probably be June 1st (first Saturday of the month seems to be the trend) if that helps you plan ahead.

I've always been a fan of any extra details, thank you Ashley.

I will try to make this.

I have put the prompt in the meet-up discussion section. Write about whatever the picture inspires.

Look forward to see what everybody comes up with.
