Pens,

With Sabrina's permission, we will again be invading her home temporarily for another lively critiquing discussion. Again, thank you Sabrina; it is a great location. Feel free to bring snacks or drinks if you wish.

Remember to upload your entries a week before the meetup (10/19) so everyone can have a chance to develop thoughtful observations and suggestions. If you need instructions for how to upload/download files, please go to the Pages section (top of the web page) and click on the "Guide to Uploading and Downloading Files."

The prompt for this meeting will, of course, be Halloween. It doesn't necessarily have to be horror; there are other aspects of Halloween to be explored such as costume parties, people far too old to go trick-or-treating doing it anyway, the food, changing of seasons, or the day that many retailers start playing Christmas music. So, feel free to write whatever genre you wish, although I will probably be taking a stab at horror myself. Of course, always remember that you do not have to write about the prompt and may submit any piece you like. The prompt is only meant as inspiration for those who want it.

Most importantly, have fun writing something new (or revising something old) this month!

Also, remember to thank Sabrina for lending us her home. :)

Thanks,

-Ashley Mayo

On a side note, the possibility of taking this group to Facebook has been raised. I will look into doing that this month (I am not very familiar with Facebook, so I need to tinker with the groups aspect). Do NOT worry about having to check Facebook for any updates this month. I'll announce whether I have set it up well enough to start using it in conjunction with meetup.com during the October meeting. We'll decide together exactly how we want to use both websites then.

It was a great little meeting. We didn't have as many as we'd hoped, but we got to talk a little more in depth about Clee's stories.

I missed you all. Was out doing errands with my husband until 4ish. Hope it was a great meetup.

Apologies folks. Whether allergies or a cold, I am laid out sick and won't be there.

Sam, we missed you. And, I've been dealing with the same allergies or cold, too. I sympathize with you and hope you get better soon! (I think I'm on the mend, finally!) Take care! Hope to see you next time. Would love to hear how things are going with your new book.
