June 2014 Meetup

We are having a Meetup at Carl's house in West Wichita. The prompt is a short story about an adventure. It can be fact or fiction...such as I see these huge rollercoasters that go so high up in the air and then plummet you straight down. I have no intentions on riding one of those, however, I could write a short story--generally 3-5 pages-- about it. So, if you want to write about a true-life adventure or climb to the summit of Mt. Everest, have fun with it. Please submit your stories either on this Meetup forum or you can use our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/590047474389364/
It is a closed group, so you'll have to either request to be a member or contact me ([masked]) and I'll get you in. You can post your stories on Meetup by going to the top of the page, under "More" and clicking on "Files."
You may also bring a snack, though it's not required. You can also bring other things you've written. Please RSVP so we have an idea as to how many are coming. Thank you, Sabrina Veley (Sabrina Jamison-Veley on Facebook if you care to look me up.)

Sorry I couldn't make it. What's needed for the next meet-up? And when? Do we submit a story early so people can read it, or bring something with us?

It was a good session. I thought we all contributed to make this a memorable meetup, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the new members, Maureen, Maria, and Scott. Thank you all for coming, and thanks for the tips that I received regarding my book.

I commented on the literary group at Oxford University that fostered such great fiction. Here is a link to some information about it for those who are not familiar with the Inklings.

BTW, for Scott or anyone else interested in some of the poetry I have written, here is a link to the web address. Some of these will be going into the collection of shorts I mentioned, so will be disappearing from my website when I publish.

It was good to meet some new people today. It was my last meeting, but it was a great one. Everyone seemed energetic and had something to share. Thank you all for contributing and giving me advice on my piece.

I will miss you, Ashley! I wish you well in everything you do and everywhere you go, always! Give me a call once in a while and catch me up! Would love to stay in contact. : )

It was much more than I expected. The members’ critique was constructive as well as insightful. It was an inspiring afternoon that energizes one to go on writing, and keep growing in one’s genre, and even flex one’s writing muscles in unfamiliar terrain.

Well-said, Maria, and thank you for your kind comments! I found you to be very inspiring, too! Great to meet you!

Maureen, you were fine! Don't be so hard on yourself. : ) It was a great meeting and I think we all have the "gift of gab!" It was great to meet you!

I'd *love* to go but I'll be at a wedding.

Shoot, we have a garage sale. Slim possibility that I might show at 5 til 4 to say hi (and eat the final cookie ;). Don't wait up.

It was a dark and stormy night, maybe humid, maybe moist?--no, the word is...sultry. (From a favorite movie.) Sorry, will be out of town that weekend. Really wish I could attend.

Can I just bring a snack instead of writing 5 pages?

I just joined this group, but I will be out of town on the 28th. Love the prompt, though!
