The Widow’s Peek assists the Christian Church in ministering to widowed men and women by helping them find the new life God has planned for them after losing a spouse by bringing them together for support, encouragement, to learn new skills, handle new responsibilities, explore new experiences and fellowship with others who understand the struggles of widowhood, and of course–present the Gospel that leads to one being whole and healed. 1. We host various events each month throughout the year to bring widowed men and women together for fellowship, encouragement and learn necessary skills to handle new responsibilities. This includes facilitating opportunities for widows/widowers to help other widows/widowers. 2. We circulate a newsletter with encouraging stories, resources for the widowed community, lists of events and needs of The Widow’s Peek. 3. We are working on resources for the widowed and for churches and other Christian organizations to fulfill the call in Scripture to help the widow (James 1:27). The challenges are different for widowed people today than in Biblical times but the call to look after the widowed is still relative today. 4.) Create and assist community groups that bring the widowed together for prayer, accountability, encouragement, study and outings. Community groups may even come together for some events–a reminder that the community includes thousands throughout our area and beyond.
