Learn to Make Your Own Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut Making/Wild Edibles Meet-Up

Join us at The Wilderness Center on Saturday, July 19th  as we harvest “wild bacterial” and learn to make our own fermented sauerkraut.  Lacto-fermentation transforms cabbage into something incredibly tasty and gives it additional health benefits — fermented sauerkraut contains a lot of the same healthy probiotics as a bowl of yogurt.

Local artist, educator and wild-food enthusiast, Don King will lead this hands-on workshop.  Each person should bring a large, sturdy wooden or plastic mixing spoon and a large non-metal bowl.  All other materials will be provided.  Participants will take away a quart jar of sauerkraut to ferment at home.  Limited to 20 participants.  Participants must preregister by July 12, 2014.  $13/member, $15/nonmember.  For info, contact Barb at[masked] x20 or [masked].

I'm only tentative for this event, as I have a time conflict I would need to resolve and also need to plan for a long drive.
