Share and discuss writing with other SF and fantasy writers

For this month's Meetup, I'm planning on a special discussion topic, "Whether, When, How, and Why to come out of the closet as a writer to your employer."  I'm including "Whether" because if you're writing under a pseudonym, or are still unpublished, it may not be necessary to come out (yet).  As usual, you many bring a (short) work to critique (preferably 1,500 words or less but we're flexible up to 3,000 words).

---

Meet to share and discuss SF and fantasy writing, books, films, TV shows, the writing process, the publishing industry, etc. with other SF and fantasy writers (both published and unpublished).  We usually have a long and lively discussion, followed by critiques of stories or chapters (if any) that members brought along.  We don't always have stories to critique, but we usually enjoy having hours worth of discussion, so let us know near the beginning of the Meetup if you brought something to have critiqued so we don't use up all our time talking -- time flies when you're having fun!

Further details or topics for this Meetup may be announced later.

As usual, you can bring a chapter or short story for the group to critique.  Try to bring enough paper copies for everyone attending to have one, and if you want us to write comments or corrections on it, then please double-space it.  We usually ask the author to read it aloud (unless you're shy), which is very helpful, because you'd be surprised how often you don't catch your own mistakes until you read your manuscript aloud for the first time!

For the manuscript (MS) critiques, length is not set in stone, but suggested length is 1500 words, maximum length 3000 words. In pages (Times 12 point font), 1500 words is just under five pages double spaced, or about three pages single-spaced (but you should always double-space to allow room for people to write comments or corrections!)  Don't worry if your MS is longer than 1500 words, you can still bring it, but please keep it under 3,000 words.

For more guidelines on critiques, see http://www.meetup.com/The-Woodbridge-Science-Fiction-Fantasy-Writers-Meetup/about/

It was great that all the attendees of this month's Meetup are either published book authors, or recently signed a contract for a book deal!

I have a serious conflict, and if I do make it to this, I will be late, possibly after 2 pm
