Dear World Affairs Discussion Group members:

At our meeting on Sunday we discussed the fact that much of the large and growing U.S. debt is held by China and other foreign countries. How long this can go on, and how healthy it is, are questionable.

At the same time, Europe is grappling with a debt crisis. And Japan's debt is also huge. In sum, all of the advanced economies are struggling with serious public debt. With this in mind, our topic for the March 14 meeting is
